I really enjoyed this movie much more than Texas Blood Money. In a nutshell Hangman's Daughter is essentially a prequel to Dusk Till Dawn. It shows how The Titty Twister came to be and Santanico Pandamonium's origin. I thought that the subplot concerning Ambrose Bierce was very clever and one of the few times that Michael Parks didn't play Earl McGraw. I also found the characters of Johnny Madrid and Catherine Reese interesting. Much more interesting in my opinion than the bible salesman. There were little things that made this film really cool. An example that comes to mind was a scene where Johnny is practicing with his pistols. He basically imitates Travis from Taxi Driver even including part of the you talking to me speech in Spanish. Although Hangman's Daughter was released after Texas Blood Money I think the chronology was intended to be Hangman, Dusk Till Dawn, then Texas Blood Money. It is possible I think though to be enjoyed as a stand alone.

I thought that there were similarities in the way the different actresses played Santanico and of course there were differences. Her backstory was expanded quite a bit in Hangman's Daughter and how she went from naive young woman to vampire queen. It is worth a look especially if you do enjoy the western theme.
