Discuter de Le Dernier survivant

One man alone on the Earth.. Knowing that the catastrophe that caused it was his fault! Paranoia, mystery, action, pathos...this film has it all.. Because it was made in New Zealand, with a NZ cast, it has been overlooked and underestimated. This is an excellent movie,..totally unique and worth a look.

Dunno about back then, but I watched it recently and it looked nowadays more like parody than serious movie. Aside from zombies I am legend was certainly more watchable movie on similar topic.

I loved it when it was released. Maybe it didn't date well, but there were no movies like it around time of release (except maybe Night of the Comet)

I watched it for the first time last night and I liked it, it reminded me of the old Twilight Zone series.

I quite enjoyed this, especially the first 30 odd minutes with Zac coping on his own. But as soon as he met up with Api & Joanne, I just knew the narrative would turn into a soap-operaesque melodrama.

Spoiler

But the ending was a real highlight, especially with Zac travelling through some kind of wormhole and ending up on a new planet!

Maybe; it was definitely a "beneath the radar" film, I'll give you that, but Sci-Fi films, if not already from an established franchise (such as Star Trek, Star Wars, or Aliens, for example) are often overlooked or given short-shrift, regardless of where they are made . . .

I will just say that where I grew up, in the Midwest of the United States, this film was available in video stores everywhere shortly after its original release in 1985 (I can remember seeing VHS tapes of it on display in the late 1980s).

For some reason, however, I avoided giving it a view until probably sometime in the mid-1990s; I will say, when I finally saw it, that I thought it was a decent effort. I do remember noting the racial tension between the (Maori?) NZ Army soldier and the two surviving white characters, and recognizing that there were racial issues all over the world, not just in the U.S.; though to be fair, there was also the element of sexual competition between the two surviving men over the last surviving female. The much later film "Z for Zachariah"(2015) also delves into this somewhat.
