Discuss A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child

I wonder if anyone in the 80s actually believed he was gone for good. His mother may have trapped him, but it doesn't seem like it was going to last. It almost seems after the first four movies they ran out of ideas so they through this sloppy ending together

Yeah the ending was underwhelming I agree. I even thought this (and 4) had one of the weaker resurrection explanations of the series

We re-watched this recently and I'd definitely say that was so plot-wise. However it was pretty weird to note that there did seem to be something of a step up creatively re the effects on this one.

Director Stephen Hopkins was given 4 measly weeks to film and then another 4 weeks to edit the film..its a miracle it turned out as decent as it did! (plus it won him the Predator 2 job). You ask for a rush job, you get rushed endings...there was always gonna be another film. They milked Freddy til it died at the box office, like most horror franchises of its time (Jason, Michael).
