John Wick : Chapitre 4 Far better than Chapter 3, but then it really couldn't be any worse, but still a far cry from Chapters 1 and 2. And why Donnie Yen agreed to play the same role he played in Rogue One is beyond me.

Zack Snyder's Justice League Very long, and very tedious. How can a four-hour movie offer such little development? The heroes are basic and uninteresting and the villains are cringe-worthy. This movie should have been dark and edgy, instead, it was just child's fluff. And don't get me started on the 4:3 screen format. WTF!

Espions Incognito Simply a charming aminated movie in which you feel sorry for the wannabe and want to give the hero a slap. Chucklefest.

Terminator : Sombre destin This is a great instalment of the whole Terminator franchise, produced by the only man who counts when it comes to The Terminator, James Cameron. After some more than disappointing additions to the movie lineup, this one is back to what we know, love and want. You can't reinvent the wheel so they don't even try here, they've just re-chromed, polished and added some spinners to the original setup. Dark Fate is simply Judgement Day with modern movie magic and I have no problem with that. And Linda Hamilton as a salty old lady wielding all kinds of assault weapons as if she's almost bored with the whole thing is a treat.

John Wick : Chapitre 3 - Parabellum Ummmm, wait a minute, what just happened? Where's the cool? Why are all the bad guys comical and unthreatening? What happened to the addictive world-building nuance? Nonstop action isn't a story, it's just a long scene. You need lulls in the action for it to have impact and interest. Driving at two hundred miles an hour along a never-ending straight road is just boring. Please let chapter four revert back to what we love about this world.

Baby le chauffeur Like music beats? Like movies? You've never seen the two combined like this before. On the surface, this is an action-heist movie. But look again...with your ears. The visual beats are in time with the soundtrack. It's utterly mesmerising.

John Wick : Chapitre 2 Ok, so it's not quite as good as the first movie but how often does that actually happen? Mr Wick is cool, again. The action is cool, again. The villains are cool, again. Except for that silly little girl who doesn't speak of course. But again, the addiction to this movie lies in the multiple layers added to further build the world these characters inhabit. Great stuff.

Pour l'amour d'Hollywood A fully-fledged musical the likes we haven't seen on the big screen in decades. This move is almost perfect in every respect. It will draw a laugh, it will draw a tear and it will definitely get your foot tapping. I have to admit the reality ending crushed my enjoyment a little. I understand why the Director did it but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Batman vs Superman : L'aube de la justice If you want to see Batman the way he SHOULD be portrayed on screen then this is the movie for you. It's great to see a 'comic' adaptation tackling darker emotions and greyer morals in its heroes. Batman is a bulked-up savage brute, which I applaud, and Superman is prepared to murder to save his mother. This is the only DC movie worth umpteen rewatches.

Des agents très spéciaux : Code U.N.C.L.E Super smooth '60s period espionage caper boosted by some very clever modern directing and cinematography. The tongue-in-cheek humour really makes this movie work.

Le monde de demain A mega-grumpy George Cluney is always worth watching. A nice upbeat "We can change our own future for the better" movie. It's bright, colourful and inoffensive.

John Wick Simply a cool character doing a lot of very bad things for all the right reasons. Immensely slick and incredibly fluid action in this movie. But the subtleties and nuances of world details are what make this story so addictive. Even after more than a hundred watches I still have to skip that puppy scene.

Prédestination This movie is quite beautiful to look at, especially the opening sequence, with a very noir aesthetic which really grabbed my attention. The huge exposition dump in the bar early on utterly kills the pace the beginning sets you up to expect. But by the end of the movie, it's obvious that couldn't be avoided. A bit of a mind-bender, and although a little predictable very imaginative and absorbing.

Lucy It would be easy to say this is a bad movie, if you wanted to be narrow-minded, but if you're willing to give it a chance it's really pretty good. Not great, but good. It comes at you head-on with some pretty cool and unusual perspectives. I mean, a philosophical action movie. You don't see many of those around. Ok, the philosophy falls short because the script just isn't clever enough but, it's a nice idea. And making the lead a woman was a bold touch. Bring the popcorn but keep a couple of your brain cells awake too.

Un jour sans lendemain End of the world groundhog day sci-fi monster movie. Tom Cruise playing an utter coward, at least in the beginning, is a refreshing change. This is one of those 'repeat incident' movies you have to keep watching, just to see what's going to change next time around. Oh, and the alien beasts, more over the way they move, are utterly terrifying. Unfortunately, the out-of-step ending leaves you thinking "Wait, what?"

R.I.P. Département Yes, ok, it's a terrible film, but in the best way. It's worth watching just to see Jeff Bridges having so much fun sending up his character and himself.

L'oubli A bit of a corny movie with quite a simplistic resolution and soppy ending. But it's Tom Cruse, It's Sci-fi and it looks cool so what more do you need?

Total Recall: Mémoires programmées Totally class. Totally absorbing. Totally worth a watch...or ten dozen. There's a great story here, some great and convincing characters and mind-blowingly imaginative visuals. Not to mention two kick-ass women! If you want a rollercoaster ride from the comfort of your own sofa this is the movie for you. It's even worth putting up with Colin Farrell for.

TRON: l'héritage I was a huge fan of the original Tron when I was a wee scamp, so when the sequel finally came about I was well up for it. Unfortunately, it missed the mark by a mile. It looks gorgeous but that's about all it can offer, unless incredibly irritating characters are your thing. The original might look naff by today's standards but it's still a far better movie. Having said that I still can't stop watching the new one, go figure.|

R.E.D. A great ride of a movie. Bruce Willis is perfectly cast as Frank Moses and downplays his character like no one else could. Picture any other star in this role and it's a completely different movie. And where else are you going to see Helen Mirren dressed in an evening gown pumping out hundreds of rounds from a machine gun bigger than she is? Exquisite. Oh, and an honourable mention for John Malkovich. Just nuts!

Nuit et jour This is one of those subtle movies people just don't seem to get. Your average Joe just expects an action flick, so that's all Joe watches it for. WRONG! Well, right, yes it's got lots of action but if that's all you expect from it then you're missing the brilliance of all the nuances Tom brings to this character. There are so many subtle moments throughout this adventure I couldn't begin to count. Just a couple of the main ones are, Roy is a spy who doesn't lie, he also has the morality of an untainted youngster. You need to watch this movie without action-tinted glasses.

Losers Big bang action with quality cinematics and beautiful colour. A snappy script, enjoyably cliched characters and just the right amount of humour make this a great watch. But there's something magical going on here that sets this one above many other similar movies.

Trésor national : Le livre des secrets Well, what do you know, a sequel that's pretty much the same story as the original. But so what? This movie isn't as good as the first but it's just as enjoyable. So let's get on board and find some treasure. Just one thing, can someone explain to me why Nicolas Cage got so loud in this one?

Next Ok, yes, this is a pretty bad movie, and no movie ever matches up to the Philip K Dick book it's based on, and yes that does go for Blade Runner too. The script is lazy, the plot holes are a mile wide and the technical inconsistencies are eye-roll-inducing. But you know what, it's an entertaining little adventure. Nicolas Cage is always worth a watch and I'll watch anything featuring Jessica Beil. It looks big, beautiful and colourful onscreen. Not everything has to be Shakespeare people, and thank the Gods for that fact.

16 rues 16 Blocks is an incredibly atmospheric movie with some quite incredibly done street scenes. Its intensity draws you in and makes you quickly form strong opinions of each character. I initially considered Mos Def's character to be annoying, but after a number of watches I realised if he hadn't given his character so much character then he would have been inconsequential and that would have weakened the movie severely. I think Bruce Willis was very brave to take the part of Jack Mosley and commit to it in the way he did. He makes this film what it is.

M. et Mme Smith This is another one of those greatly nuanced movies people just don't get. Viewers are expecting another run-of-the-mill action film so that's all they look for, and in doing that they miss so much more! The interplay between the characters, the subtext and the layering you can only fully appreciate after absorbing the film in its entirety is a thing of beauty. If all you get out of this is the action then I'm afraid that says more about you than the movie.

Constantine There are hell things on earth and only Keanu Reeves to give them a good kicking! This is a hugely imaginative vision of a movie, not a direct copy of the comic it was spawned from but still a fantastic creation. This movie is one of a kind and well worth your time.

Trésor National Nicolas Cage trying his damndest to be as un-Indian Jones as possible and succeeding. A good old-fashioned treasure hunt adventure you won't be able to help but enjoy. Cage is thoroughly enjoyable in this pacy romp. The unheroic hero is the best kind of hero, in my humble opinion.

Les Robots Will Smith does paranoid and grumpy, and he does it very well. But then he does pretty much every role he plays very well. A vision of the future we're all expecting to happen, and the only nice people are robots.
