This hidden-camera series follows four lifelong friends -- Brian "Q"' Quinn, James "Murr"' Murray, Joe Gatto and Sal Vulcano -- who take dares to an outrageous level. To find out who is best under pressure, the guys compete in awkward and outrageous hidden-camera hijinks with the loser performing what is deemed to be the most-mortifying challenge yet.

Nacque da un'idea di Fatma Ruffini e Salvatore De Pasquale, in arte Depsa. Va in onda dal 1992, seppur con interruzioni anche di due o tre anni tra un'edizione e l'altra. La trasmissione fu, sin dalla prima edizione, molto popolare, tanto che è entrato nel linguaggio comune dire, "Sei su Scherzi a parte!", nel momento in cui, una "vittima" si trova in una situazione assurda e paradossale, durante la quale non sta effettivamente accadendo nulla di serio e preoccupante. Nello schema del programma, gli autori si mettono d'accordo con alcuni complici per organizzare uno scherzo alla "vittima" prescelta. Il programma televisivo è un erede diretto del famoso show statunitense Candid Camera[1] nel quale, per attirare un pubblico maggiore, le vittime degli scherzi sono personaggi presi dal mondo dello spettacolo, del cinema, della musica, del giornalismo e della politica, tutti più o meno famosi.

La prima edizione del programma andò in onda a partire dal 9 febbraio 1992 su Italia 1, e venne condotta da Teo Teocoli e Gene Gnocchi. Dal 1993, per via del successo ottenuto, il programma venne spostato su Canale 5. Nel 1997 ritorna su Italia 1 e nell'edizione successiva, due anni dopo, nel 1999, ritorna su Canale 5, per l'undicesima edizione. Il 2 aprile 2012, dopo una pausa di ben tre anni e mezzo, venne trasmessa la dodicesima edizione, totalmente rinnovata, condotta da Luca e Paolo: la prima novità fu costituita dalla diretta. Inoltre, nel corso di ogni puntata, vennero incluse le parodie di storici giochi televisivi a quiz e a premi, e la cosiddetta Top 5 degli scherzi storici dal 1992 al 2009, andati in onda sia su Canale 5 che su Italia 1. All'interno del programma vi sono inoltre spin-off, come la parodia delle serie televisive, Ai confini della realtà (1959) e The Twilight Zone (2002/2003), intitolata Ai confini della Fico, con la vittima dello scherzo Raffaella Fico, Scherzi a parte by Night e Sexy a parte.

Dopo altri tre anni di pausa, nel 2015 il programma ritorna in onda con due sole puntate in un'edizione rivoluzionata e cambiando nome in, Le Iene presentano: Scherzi a parte. Gli scherzi, realizzati dalla redazione de Le Iene, vengono mostrati interamente durante la loro preparazione e realizzazione prima della messa in atto. Il programma cambia completamente rispetto alle passate edizioni: non presenta scherzi in studio o ballerini, ma solamente il pubblico seduto attorno a Paolo Bonolis che introduce i video degli scherzi con dei brevi monologhi comici e, successivamente, ospita le vittime degli scherzi in studio intervistandole seduti entrambi su di una panchina.

Dopo altri 3 anni di pausa, il programma torna in onda nel 2018, dal 9 al 30 novembre per 4 puntate, nuovamente con la conduzione di Paolo Bonolis.

Viva La Bam was an American reality television series that stars Bam Margera and his friends and family. Betty White's Off Their Rockers is an American reality comedy television series broadcast on NBC. A sneak preview was released on January 16, 2012 in tribute to Betty White's 90th birthday. The show officially premiered April 4, 2012. It is based on the Belgian TV format Benidorm Bastards. White hosts the series, and also serves as an executive producer for the show.

On May 13, 2012, NBC renewed the series for a second season in the mid-season schedule. On July 11, 2013, The Hollywood Reporter reported that NBC had canceled the series, citing a drop-off in ratings and low DVR viewership.

Fonejacker is a British comedy programme broadcast on E4 featuring a series of prank calls involving a number of different characters performed by British Iranian television actor Kayvan Novak. It first appeared in May 2006 and became a full series in 2007.

In 2005 Kayvan Novak and Ed Tracy created, wrote and directed Fonejacker, a prank call show, as part of Channel 4 Comedy Lab. After making the pilot together they were given a Christmas special and a six-part series which began airing in the UK on 5 July 2007 on E4 and lasted 6 episodes. They went on to make a second series which began airing on 17 September 2008 on E4, and started on Channel 4 on 6 November 2008. Kayvan Novak said that he was "not sure there will be a third series of Fonejacker" but despite this, several websites reported in October 2009 that a third series would air in May 2010.

In November 2009, the third series was officially announced, with the news that it would be called "Fonejacker 3D" and feature Kayvan Novak portraying both old and new Fonejacker characters face-to-face in the public domain. Renamed Facejacker, the new show began airing on 16 April 2010.

Fonejacker won the BAFTA award for the "Best Comedy Programme" in 2008. Novak plans to create a film based on the show's characters, and is currently in talks with Film4 and Hat Trick Productions.
