3 علماء غريبو الأطوار يتم فصلهم من مراكزهم في جامعة نيويورك بسبب دراستهم لعلوم ما وراء الطبيعة، فيقررون أن يشكلوا مجموعة لصيد الأشباح يقدموا فيها خدماتهم للناس؛ حيث يطاردون الأرواح الغاضبة، والأشباح الصاخبة وهذا في مقابل المال. الآن ُتفتح بوابة بين الأبعاد على عالم آخر، ويتسرب منها شر رهيب على المدينة، فيتم استدعاء صائدي الأشباح لإنقاذ الجميع.
تتزوج بيلا بمصاص الدماء إدوارد، وسرعان ما تدرك بيلا أنها حامل، ويعلم المستذئبين بالأمر ويصروا على قتل بيلا وجنينها، لكن المستذئب جاكوب يرفض ذلك وينشق عنهم وينضم إلى إدوارد وعائلته ويحمي بيلا، التي تلد طفلة ويضطر إدوارد إلى بث سمه داخلها فتتحول إلى مصاص دماء، وعندما يعلم الفولتري (قادة مصاصي الدماء بالعالم) بتلك الطفلة يقررون الحصول عليها بأي شكل.
تتحرر مصاصة الدماء (سيلين) من نوم دام 12 عام وتهرب بعد تحريرها من قبل شخص مجهول، وتعلم بأمر شن البشر حملة تطهير واسعة للقضاء على المستذئبين ومصاصي الدماء؛ لكن ذلك لم يعرقل بحثها عن حبيبها (مايكل) الهجين من مصاصي الدماء والمستذئبين، إلا أنها أثناء بحثها تجد أن محررها من النوم هي ابنتها (إيف) والتي تتمتع بقدرات هائلة ورثتها من والدها (مايكل)، الأمر الذي يجعل المستذئبين يبحثوا عنها ويرغبوا في امتلاكها بكافة السبل.
تشترك (سيلين) محاربة مصاصي الدماء الجميلة، في الحرب بين مصاصي الدماء والمستذئبين، وعلى الرغم من أنها تتماشى مع مصاصي الدماء، إلا أنها تقع في الحب مع (مايكل)، الذئب الذي يتوق إلى إنهاء الحرب.

يقوم عالم أحياء بالتسجيل في رحلة استكشافية سرية خطيرة إلى منطقة غامضة حيث لا تنطبق قوانين الطبيعة.

يتناول الفيلم الفصل الأخير، حيث يتمكن مصاصو الدماء من استعادة القوات الأصلية لخلق أنواع جديدة من الكائنات النصف مخلًّقة بواسطة (اليكساندر كورفينوس). أما عن (مايكل) فهو يستعيد ذكرياته ويبحث عن (سيلين) وابنته في محاولة لعيش البشر والمخلوقات الجديدة في سلام من جديد.
