Radnja filma odvija se 22 godine nakon Jurskoga parka i smještena je u luksuznom tematskom parku u kojem se nalaze najveća i najzanimljivija živuća prethistorijska stvorenja. Park se nalazi na otoku nedaleko Costa Rice i najsuvremenije je čudo tehnologije prepuno atrakcija koje ostavljaju bez daha. Djeca imaju priliku jahati minijaturne triceratopse, posjetitelji se mogu diviti mozasauru koji iskače iz dubina ogromnog bazena kako bi u zraku pojeo mamac od velike bijele psine, a zapanjene obitelji sa strahopoštovanjem proučavaju dinosaure svih veličina i oblika koji slobodno lutaju. No sve krene po zlu kad Indominus rex – dinosaur koji nikad prije nije hodao Zemljom, i čija inteligencija i sposobnosti lova nikome nisu poznate – pobjegne i nestane u džungli. U tom se trenutku svako biće u Jurskom svijetu, i osoba i dinosaur, nađu se u velikoj opasnosti. Počinje rat za preživljavanje i nijedan dio najvećeg tematskog parka na svijetu više nije siguran!
