Aladdin este un tânăr vagabond care trăiește pe străzile unui oraș aglomerat alături de credincioasa lui maimuță, Abu. Când prințesa Jasmine, speriată de ideea unei căsătorii forțate și sătulă să își petreacă timpul doar în palat, decide să fugă, se strecoară prin piața din vecinătate și îl întâlnește pe Aladdin. La ordinul maleficului Jafar - mâna dreaptă a sultanului - Aladdin este aruncat după gratii și se trezește prins în planul lui Jafar de a aduce orașul la picioarele lui cu ajutorul unei lămpi fermecate. Legenda spune că doar o persoană care poate fi descrisă drept "diamant neșlefuit" poate scoate lampa din Peștera Fermecată. Poate că aladin se potrivește descrierii, dar asta nu-i va fi suficient pentru a o lua pe prințesă de soție, iar legea impune ca tânăra să se căsătorească cu un prinț.

Povestea e următoarea: Aladdin e o pușlama descurcăreață și fermecătoare, un orfan crescut de capul lui pe străzile din Agrabah, un hoțoman cu inimă de aur. Chiar inocența lui e motivul pentru care maleficul vrăjitor Jafar îl alege pentru a intra în Peștera Minunilor. Dar odată ajuns acolo, Aladdin pune mâna pe lampa fermecată și, cu ajutorul duhului ei, încearcă să o vrăjească pe prințesa Jasmine, de care e îndrăgostit până peste urechi. Debandada care urmează are farmec, suspans și întorsături de situație mai spectaculoase și mai amuzante decât originalul (că doar nu degeaba e Guy Ritchie pe generic).

Dorința lui Jafar de a deveni cel mai puternic djinn îl face prizonierul unei lămpi fermecate, până când este invocat de Abis Mal, Căpetenia hoților. Odată eliberat, Jafar caută să se răzbune pe Aladdin, iar Aladdin și prietenii săi trebuie să apere Agrabah de răutatea lui Jafar.

This film finds Angélique in a North African Muslim kingdom where she is now part of the Sultan's harem. The first part of the film consist of her angrily refusing to be bedded as well as their trying to literally beat some sense into her. It all seems to go on too long and I was surprised that the Sultan simply didn't have her killed. Late in the film, she finally decides to escape with the help of two Christian prisoners.

Vittorio De Sica is a teacher struggling to take care of his family and always dreaming that Parliament will increase the salaries for teachers and life will become easier for his wife, Maria Mereander, and kids. An Indian prince (Sabu) visits Italy, is assisted by the teacher and gives De Sica a baby elephant as a reward. This upsets the landlord, Nando Bruno, the other tenants, and the neighborhood. He takes the elephant away but, like Lassie, it comes home.

On the run after being found sweet-talking the Sultan's daughter, Aladdin comes upon a lamp which, when rubbed, summons up Babs the genie. He uses it to return as a visiting prince asking for the princess's hand. Unfortunately for him, the sultan's wicked twin brother has secretly usurped the throne, someone else is after the lamp for his own ends, and Babs has taken a shine to Aladdin herself and is bent on wrecking his endeavours.

He allows Hilmi Pasha, the leader of the Young Turks, to return from exile and form the country's first constitutional government. With tensions still growing, chief of police Kadar Pasha assassinates Hassan Bey, the leader of the Old Turk party, and makes it look as if a Young Turk committed the crime, in order to give Abdul an excuse for arresting the Young Turk leaders. Meanwhile, Abdul becomes infatuated with a visiting Austrian singer. When she rejects his advances, she endangers both herself and her fiancé, a Turkish officer who also knows who really shot Hassan Bey.

The film is based on the life of Razia Sultan (1205–1240), the only female Sultan of Delhi (1236–1240) and her speculated love affair with the Abyssinian slave, Jamal-ud-Din Yakut. Razia Sultan is 1983 Urdu film, written and directed by Kamal Amrohi, and starring Hema Malini, Parveen Babi and Dharmendra in lead roles. The film's music was provided by Khayyam, with lyrics by Jan Nisar Akhtar and two songs by Nida Fazli who walked into the project when Akhtar died. Some songs were sung by Lata Mangeshkar, including classics like, "Aye Dil-e Nadaan".
