卡美拉與加歐斯決戰後的冬天，北海道降下流星雨，同時一顆隕石墜落在支笏湖南西方約一公里處，陸上自衛隊第11師團隨即派出化學防護小隊，渡良瀬佑介二佐與花谷陸尉深入調查發現隕石似乎帶來了某種不明物體。 五天後，事件的原兇開始現身，札幌市地下鐵的電車在隧道內遭到不明生物攻擊，北海道札幌市的薄野出現巨大植物，巨大植物竄出一群體長3m，類似昆蟲的甲殼類生物。 怪蟲(Legion)與植物是與隕石一起飛來的地球外物體，兩者屬於共生關係，Legion會藉由啃食矽酮並分泌氧氣來製造植物(草體)，並藉由爆炸散佈種子。由於適合草體生存環境需要高濃度的氧氣，在這種高濃度氧的環境下，地球生物絕對無法生存，自衛隊決定對草體進行爆破。此時海上自衛隊探測到卡美拉往札幌飛去........
