För att klara sig får Kenai hjälp av Koda, en tuff och sprallig björnunge som vet hur man överlever i naturen. Tillsammans med de två inte så snabbtänkta älgarna Rutt och Tuck hjälps de åt att klara sig genom vildmarken, alla faror och utmaningar. Men Denahi kommer allt närmare och Kenai måste snabbt hitta berget där "ljuset nuddar jorden". Bara där kan han förvandlas tillbaka till människa igen...
