Una noia molt segura de si mateixa que tothom anomena "Dumplin" (Danielle Macdonald) comença a treballar en una cadena de menjar ràpid, on coneix un noi que li agrada. Pel que sembla, l'atracció entre tots dos és mútua, encara que Dumplin comença a tenir dubtes sobre el seu atractiu físic.
