A college student nearing graduation reminisces on his time spent in school and questions if they were well spent as he struggles to finish his writing project.

It’s the second semester of junior year for Pierce “Sparni” Sparnroft, a gifted jazz vibraphonist studying at Montclair State University in New Jersey. Sparni’s prospects on the vibes were rejuvenated by their new professor, the world-renowned Steve Nelson, and are to be showcased during a student-driven recital in May 2023. But all the while, Sparni must face a crisis within.

Four students from different backgrounds face new realities of a new life at university. They must adapt to the environment dictated to them in their course in the first year.

Ivan Yauzov is an ordinary student who studies at a technical university. But one day he read in a book that Elon Musk conquered space with his super satellites. Student found such inspiration in this achievement that he resolved to demonstrate the parity of Russian equipment with its American counterparts, asserting that Russians too are capable of greatness.

With her reckless behavior art student Kalina (21) provokes her fellow students, her teachers and sometimes even her only friend Ruth (24). Kalina convinces Ruth take a spontaneous trip to Portugal the next day and they euphorically head out to celebrate their plan. After a half-hearted attempt to steal a car they end up on a big student party. When Ruth voices doubts about the planned trip, the night takes an unexpected turn.
