Ce film est son journal vidéo intime afin de conjurer sa maladie par l’inventivité cinématographique. Entre gore, humour et performance, un joli pied-de-nez à la mort qui rode. Son (auto)observation à long terme tourne de manière fiable autour des craintes d’infirmité et de mutilation. Il traduit en film l'horreur corporelle redoutée, se met en scène comme un zombie, un vampire, une figure désolée. Lancit anticipe de manière ludique son potentiel déclin, en proposant tout un arsenal d'effets qui – comme le prouvent les enregistrements vidéo – remontent à sa jeunesse.
An autobiographical essay film structured as a letter to the director’s young daughter, "Où en êtes-vous, Bertrand Bonello?" weaves clips from Bonello’s films, excerpts from his scripts, pop songs, and snippets of original footage into a lyrical, reflexive cinematic self-portrait.
