Ο Mykola είναι ένας εκκεντρικός ειρηνιστής που θέλει να είναι χρήσιμος στην ανθρωπότητα. Όταν αρχίζει ο πόλεμος στο Ντονμπάς, ο αφελής κόσμος του Μίκολα καταρρέει καθώς οι μαχητές σκοτώνουν την έγκυο γυναίκα του και καίνε το σπίτι του ολοσχερώς. Ανακάμπτοντας, παίρνει μια απόφαση και κατατάσσεται σε έναν λόχο ελεύθερων σκοπευτών. Έχοντας συναντήσει τους δολοφόνους της γυναίκας του, καταρρέει συναισθηματικά και γίνεται ο τρόμος τον ελεύθερων σκοπευτών για τον εχθρό. Τον σώζει από έναν παράλογο θάνατο ο εκπαιδευτής του, ο οποίος τραυματίζεται και ο ίδιος θανάσιμα. Ο θάνατος του φίλου του αφήνει "σημάδι" και ο Mykola είναι έτοιμος να θυσιάσει τη ζωή του.
