Superman, Spiderman, Batman, La Masa, Los Cuatro Fantásticos, Estela Plateada, Capitán América... todos ellos superhéroes legendarios nacidos bajo los trozos geniales de los artistas americanos. Apreciados por primera vez entre la Gran Depresión y la Segunda Guerra Mundial, dichos héroes urbanos cristalizaron a lo largo de todo el siglo XX los miedos, los excesos pero también los ideales de América. Tras haber combatido el nacionalsocialismo y luego el comunismo, los superhéroes de los años sesenta cuestionarán a una sociedad en plena transformación (Malestar social, miedo nuclear y la guerra de Vietnam). A través de innumerables dibujos, escenas de largometrajes (Superman, Batman, X-Men, Spawn) y dibujos animados, y gracias al testimonio apasionante de múltiples colaboradores (Guionistas, dibujantes, productores, directores y sociólogos) "De SUPERMAN a SPIDERMAN, la aventura de los superhéroes" hace revivir de manera lúdica y ambiciosa la gran aventura de los superhéroes americanos.

Moritaka Mashiro, un estudiante de instituto, se deja su cuaderno en clase. Su compañero Akito Takagi lo encuentra y, tras ver sus dibujos, le propone ser el artista para las historias que escribe, aunque la oferta es rechazada en un primer momento. Takagi entonces le empuja a hablar con Miho Azuki, la chica que le gusta a Mashiro, contándole sus planes de convertirse en profesionales del manga. Resulta que ella, a su vez, quiere ser actriz de doblaje, con lo que deciden que será ella quien le ponga voz y que Mashiro y Azuki se casen cuando alcancen su sueño. Los dos amigos comienzan a trabajar bajo el pseudónimo de Muto Ashirogi.
