Vom einen auf den anderen Tag wird sich Carol der Einsamkeit, die sich seit dem Tod ihres Mannes vor zwanzig Jahren in ihr Leben geschlichen hat, mit aller Härte bewusst. Den Großteil ihrer Zeit verbringt sie mit ihren drei Freundinnen die sich beim Kartenspielen über den neuesten Klatsch und Tratsch austauschen. Sie sind es auch, die ihrer Freundin dazu raten, sich wieder auf den Markt zu werfen, auch wenn dies heißt, sich beim Speed-Dating einem Trottel nach dem anderen gegenüber zu sehen.
