1940年的《月宮寶盒》（The Thief of Bagdad, UK）改編自阿拉伯民間神話《一千零一夜》，在當年不但以設計精巧的特效驚豔當時的觀眾，更勇奪奧斯卡特效獎。故事取材於阿拉伯神話，內容大致描述一個會妖術的奸相賈法，用陰謀詭計把巴格達城的阿麥王拘禁起來，然後自號為王。阿麥後來得到同牢的小神阿菩相助而逃走。賈法為了得到公主，把阿麥變成瞎子，並把阿菩變成一條狗。最後得巨人相助，終於射殺賈法，讓阿麥重新成為巴格達城的國王。
