Ο θρυλικός δολοφόνος Κενσιν Χιμούρα, δέκα χρόνια μετά την Επανόρθωση Μέιτζι έχει γίνει ένας περιπλανώμενος σαμουράι. Μετά την ήττα του από τον Σισίο, ο Κένσιν πέφτει στην θάλασσα για να σώσει την Καόρου. Ο Κένσιν έχει συνηθίσει στην νέα ζωή του με την Καόρου και τους άλλους φίλους τους, όταν δέχεται ένα αίτημα από την Κυβέρνηση Μέιτζι. Ο Σισίο Μακότο, ένας πρώην δολοφόνος, επέζησε αφού τον πρόδωσαν και τον έκαψαν ζωντανό. Τώρα βρίσκεται στο Κιότο και συνωμοτεί με τους πολεμιστές που έχει συγκεντρώσει, να ρίξουν την νέα κυβέρνηση.
