Et japansk filmstudie har planer om at rive sine store gamle studiebygninger ned. I den forbindelse har journalisten Genya Tachiban besluttet sig for at lave en dokumentar om den gamle stjerne Chiyoko Fujiwara, der trak sig tilbage, da hendes karriere var på det højeste og ikke har vist sig for offentligheden siden. Chiyoko fortæller Tachiban og hans kameramand sin historie, og hendes fortælling er så levende, at de to bliver transporteret tilbage i tiden og optræder i hendes minder, mens vi ser dem.
