故事改编自华裔女导演王子逸自己的家庭故事。讲述一个华人家庭的奶奶被诊断罹癌，但家人选择隐瞒奶奶，假借一场婚礼的名义让所有家人回家见奶奶最后一面，但在纽约长大的碧莉认为知道自己病况是奶奶的人权，因此在华人家庭中上演一场中西文化冲突，一部寻根家庭喜剧。

During the summer of 1981, a group of friends in New York are completely unprepared for the onslaught of AIDS. What starts as a rumor about a mysterious "gay cancer" soon turns into a major crisis as, one by one, some of the friends begin to fall ill, leaving the others to panic about who will be next. As death takes its toll, the lives of these friends are forever redefined by an unconditional display of love, hope and courage.
This is the story of three characters (brothers Tomek and Jacek and their neighbor Magda), each of them is in their own way lonely and alienated. The title character makes herself secluded. Tomek's alienation results from his neurological disease, and Jacek contacts the world mainly via the Internet. This is also a film about love. Love of one brother to the other and of one alienated human being to the other. All together it creates a very universal picture with a Polish entourage.
Christian has one year left to live, one year to get to know his newborn son Philip, and on year to make sure Philip will have a chance to get to know him. Heritage is a film about father and son relationship.
