Vier jaar nadat zijn verloofde om het leven kwam bij een vulkaanuitbarsting in Colombia, heeft vulkanoloog Harry Dalton nog steeds geen rust gevonden. Hij overweegt zelfs helemaal met de vulkanologie te kappen, tot een ex-collega hem vraagt naar Dante's Peak te gaan om de licht seismische activiteit die er waargenomen is, te gaan bestuderen.
De inhalige zakenman Jack Harris heeft van het paradijselijke Tianhuo Island een adembenemend avonturenpark gemaakt. Een van de grote troeven van het eiland is de fotogeniek borrelende vulkaan. Meng Li, dochter van de befaamde geoloog Wentao Li, heeft een geniaal systeem ontwikkeld dat haarfijn een dodelijke uitbarsting kan voorspellen. En dat is héél binnenkort. De overheden en zakenlui achter het park slaan Mengs waarschuwingen echter in de wind en weigeren de bezoekers te evacueren.
In Europa vinden er meerdere vulkaanuitbarstingen plaats. Daardoor blokkeert een gigantische aswolk de zon. Het gevolg daarvan is dat er een nieuwe ijstijd aanbreekt. Een Amerikaans stel moet alles op alles zetten om hun kinderen - die studeren in Parijs - het land uit te krijgen, voordat het hele continent bevroren is...

We explore the geysers of boiling waters and the crystal clear lakes off the coast of Iceland. We dive under the icebergs, into the tears between the continental plates and into the deep caves.
On the 9th of April 2021, La Soufrière, St. Vincent and the Grenadines' volcano, began to erupt explosively. The eruptions were still ongoing for a while, and by the second it was sending volcanic ash to my homeland, Barbados. Houses, cars, roads and much more were covered by the ash. Citizens of St. Vincent were evacuated but some had either been left behind or been put in life-threatening situations. Their water supply was being cut off, electrical power, and they were running out of food supplies and some had nowhere to sleep at night. This film wasn't made to make St. Vincent or Barbados look bad in any way, shape or form. I just really like the apocalyptic feel it gave to the surroundings and I decided to use it to its potential. I named it "Future" because it reminds me of what I think the future will look like due to mankind's ignorance.
