靠自己努力當上鞋業公司高層的權藤，正為公司的事務發愁，不料他司機的兒子進一卻被綁匪誤當成他的兒子綁走，要他交納3,000萬日圓贖金。一開始權藤並不願意交錢給匪徒，因為他為解決公司上的事務急需用錢。後來因救人心切他通過交付贖金救回進一，自己卻被公司內的人排擠出了公司，並落到被債權人追債的地步。後來負責調查此案的警察們不但查出匪徒的身份——竹內，還設計證明了竹內用毒品殺死同謀者的犯罪事實，最終竹內被判死刑。臨死前竹內要求見權藤一面，說出了他憎恨有錢人的內心想法。
