Denne filmisk flotte bibelsaga er instrueret af John Huston, som foran kameraet også levendegør filmens mest spændende figur, Noah. Det er en lidt overset film, måske fordi man normalt forbinder John Huston med action, storbystemning og rappe replikker. Her er han gået over i en anden grøft, og han får god hjælp af filmens komponist Toshiro Mayuzumi med sin flotte, symfoniske baggrundsmusik, der rent faktisk ofte er at finde i forgrunden.
