Fletch, baserad på en roman av Gregory McDonald, är en thriller som innehåller både mord och humor. Stanwyk verkar ha arrangerat det perfekta brottet - ett fejkat rån, en Jaguar att komma undan i och en förstaklass-biljett till Rio... Men något verkar inte helt rätt. Och där han använder sig av olika förklädnader i sina försök att ta reda på sanningen finner sig Fletch hotad, beskjuten, anklagad och arresterad. Och det av de människor som han försöker hjälpa!

Dan is closing in on the gang when Carol, who is now his assistant, comes up with some conclusive evidence, but "Duke" has plans to get rid of her before she can give the information to Dan.
American couple Jake and Tina are living in an expensive London hotel above their means, incurring a sizeable debt.
