Félix le Chat créé par Otto Messmer et produit par Pat Sullivan eu un succès tout au long des années 1920, mais avec la venue des films parlants et la création de Mickey Mouse, Félix perdit de sa popularité et s'arrêta dans le début des années 30. Félix réapparut à la télévision dans les années 60 sous la direction de Joe Oriolo qui ajouta de nouveaux personnages et éléments.En 1988, un long métrage d'animation tiré de la série télévisée d'Oriolo : Félix le chat, le film (Felix the Cat: The Movie), produit par son fils, Don Oriolo. En 1995, Félix le Chat revient dans une nouvelle série d'animation scénarisée par Bob Koch: Les Histoires Farfelues de Félix le Chat (The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat).
