Nonostante il versante pulp alla Tarantino (il dialogo tra Cusack e Aykroyd con le pistole sotto il tavolo), è una black comedy più seria di quel che appare: attraverso la parodia dei generi traspare la satira. Lo sguardo del regista è quello del cinema degli anni '70, la colonna sonora è degli anni '80 (Clash, Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, Siouxsie and the Banshees). Armitage è un regista da rivalutare.
