Thale ser, hvordan pigen bliver trukket ind i skoven af noget, hun ikke helt kan identificere. Et dyr af en slags, måske en ulv?!

Skuespillerne er primært nordiske, med bl.a. Stellan Skärsgård som den danske kong Hrothgar, der sender krigeren Beowulf ud for at gøre det af med uhyret Grendel. En heroisk aktion, jovist, men helten opdager, at der er noget ved uhyret, som han ikke vidste.
