Det här är historien om två barn, Klas och Klara, som växer upp i den fattiga svenska landsbygden under mitten av 1800-talet. Deras far Albert är glasblåsare, känd för sina vackra vaser, men kan fortfarande inte tjäna tillräckligt mycket pengar till sin fru Sofia och barnen. Vid en vårmässa anländer en framstående gentleman och köper alla Alberts glasvaror. Efter detta kommer ingenting att vara detsamma igen. Klas och Klara kidnappas och tas till ett konstigt slott...

The Pilchuck Glass School outside Seattle has been going for 43 years. Started by Dale Chihuly, when glass in America was at its infancy. This school is responsible for making the US Studio Glass movement what it is today. It's an international institution now, bringing students from all over the world. It started in 1971, during the peace movements, Flower Power and war in Vietnam This documentary tells the story of it's beginnings, and how it's now made the Pacific NW, the largest glass art center in the world.

Conquest of Light is a 1975 short documentary directed and produced by Louis Marcus. It is an examination of the processes used to make Waterford crystal in Ireland. The clear crystal shapes of glass created by the craftsmen of Waterford are designed to capture the iridescence of light. From the intense heat of the furnace at the glass works in the Irish city of Waterford comes the crystal, blown by mouth and cut by hand, that is treasured over most of the world. The camera follows the liquid glass as it is blown into the shape of bowls, goblets, vases and many other forms, then cut and etched with great deftness and precision, producing the splendid examples of glass art for which the craftsmen at Waterford are famous. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2011.
