Mija is een jong meisje van het platteland dat bevriend is met 'Okja', een groot beest dat zachtaardig en vriendelijk van geest is. Op een dag moet Mija alles op het spel zetten om te voorkomen dat een machtig, multinationaal bedrijf haar beste vriend kan ontvoeren.
Als de naïeve, altijd optimistische borderterriër Reggie door zijn onsympathieke eigenaar Doug in de achterbuurt van de stad wordt achtergelaten, is hij er van overtuigd dat zijn geliefde baasje dat nooit met opzet zou doen.Maar wanneer Reggie kennismaakt met de snel pratende, grofgebekte bostonterriër Bug, een zwerfhond die erg gesteld is op zijn vrijheid en vindt dat een hond met een baasje maar een loser is, realiseert hij zich dat hij in een giftige relatie zat en dat Doug eigenlijk een egoïstische schoft is. Reggie, Bug en Bugs vrienden Maggie, een slimme Australische herder die door haar baasje aan de kant is gezet voor een nieuwe puppy, en Hunter, een angstige Deense dog die gestrest is geraakt door zijn werk als therapiehond, zijn vastbesloten om wraak te nemen. Ze bedenken samen een plan en beginnen aan een episch avontuur om Reggie te helpen de weg terug naar huis te vinden en Doug te laten boeten door zijn favoriete ledemaat er af te bijten. After a series of ever more daring raids on laboratories and farms to rescue what they believe are mistreated animals, a radical commune of animal liberationists find themselves under a vicious attack by the very groups they had expected the least trouble from: other (more moderate) animal liberation groups. At the instigation of these more moderate groups, the only rich boy in the group is arrested, and he becomes subject to a smear campaign which has him bedding all the women in the group - a particularly damaging libel, because one of the girls is underage. This is the first film to be directed by Thomas Robsahm, the Norwegian son of the great Italian actor, Ugo Tognazzi (now deceased)
