Ve skandálním příběhu milostného trojúhelníku a touhy po společenském vzestupu si zahráli představitelé nejmladší generace Montgomery Clift, Shelley Winters a Elizabeth Taylor, která zde dokonala proměnu z dětské (respektive adolescentní) herečky ve smyslný sex symbol.
