Dej animovaného filmu sa odohráva vo viktoriánskej dedine v 19. storočí a sleduje príbeh Viktora, mladého muža vtiahnutého do podsvetia, kde je oženený s tajomnou mŕtvou nevestou. Jeho skutočná nevesta Viktória na neho medzitým čaká v skutočnom svete.
