Přes počáteční hrůzu jakou vyvolává neuvěřitelná souhra náhod a nehod provázejících od počátku celý projekt, se Gilliamovy útrapy stávají postupem času směšně komické. Takovému množství neštěstí se už nedá nic víc než smát.

John Lithgow a Bob Hoskins jako Don Quijote a Sancho Panza v nejnovější adaptaci proslulého románu Miguela de Cervantese. "Don Quijote je blázen, ale jeho bláznovství má podobu přání, aby svět byl lepší.," řekl před nedávnem při natáčení nejnovější verze slavného románu ze 17. století představitel titulní postavy John Lithgow. To je možná také důvod, proč populární herec do více než dvouhodinového klasického přepisu Cervantesova fantazijního příběhu o proslulém rytíři a jeho zbrojnošovi vstoupil také jako výkonný producent.
