Minsk, August 2020. Pasha and Yulia, a young married couple, leave the house at night and find themselves in the midst of peaceful protests. Everyday walk turns into a real hell, in which innocent people are victims of police brutality.

Narra la historia de un padre soltero cuya cómoda y burguesa vida se ve sacudida cuando su pasado se vuelve en su contra: Jason Sinai (Robert Redford), quien también utiliza el alias de James Grant, es un prófugo de la guerra de Vietnam y ex-militante del grupo social revolucionario Weather Underground -conocido por sus actividades violentas- perseguido por el FBI desde hace 30 años, tiempo en el que ha vivido oculto y que ahora amenaza con descubrir un ambicioso y joven periodista (Shia LaBeouf).
