במהלך מלחמת העולם השניה, אנטולי וטיקון נשבו ע"י הנאצים. לאנטולי ניתנה הבחירה לירות בטיקון ולהשאר בחיים,אנטולי יורה בטיקון. טיקון נופל מהספינה למיים.
הנאצים פוצצו את הספינה אבל אנטולי נמצא למחרת בבוקר ע"י הכמרים . הוא נותר בחיים והופך להיות מסיק הדודים במנזר אבל האשמה לא נוטשת אותו.
לאחר 30 שנה- אנטולי ניחן עתה ביכולת ראיית הנולד ויכולת ריפוי. הכמרים האחרים אינם מבינים אותו. אנשים מגיעים לאנטולי למטרות ריפוי. אנטולי עדיין אינו יכול לעקור מנפשו את מועקת האשמה. לעיתים הוא נכנס לסירה ומגיע לאי לא מיושב ושם מתפלל למחילה.
אדמירל חשוב מגיע לביקור אצל אנטולי בליווי בתו.. הבת אחוזת שדים, אבל אנטולי מצליח לגרש אותם מתוכה. מסתבר לאנטולי כי האדמירל הינו טיקון, בו הוא ירה, ולמעשה הוא רק פצע אותו דאז.

אנטולי יכול כעת למות בשלווה. הכמרים מכינים עבורו ארון קבורה, הוא נשכב בתוכו,ומת. הארון נקבר באי הלא מיושב, שבו התפלל למחילה.
השנה היא 1959. מלחמה אלימה הסתיימה בשלום זמני בין רוסיה לשוודיה. פינלנד נהרסה לגמרי. הסרט מתרכז בגיבור מלחמה לקוי בנפשו ואחיו המדען. השניים מוצאים עצמם מגודרים ע"י גבולות כאשר מסביבם קבוצת חיילים רוסים אכזריים.
אהרון (זהר שטראוס) הוא קצב חרדי, נשוי לרבקה ואב לארבעה בנים, בעל אטליז משפחתי באחת השכונות החרדיות בירושלים. למקום מגיע עזרי (רן דנקר), אברך יפה תאר המחפש מקום ללון בו. אהרון לוקח אותו תחת חסותו ומארח אותו בביתו. בעוד הוא מלמד את עזרי את רזי המקצוע, נרקמת בין השניים מערכת יחסים אסורה. ההתמכרות לחוויה מביאה את אהרון לשבירת טאבואים ופריצת גדרות העולם הסובב אותו. הוא ניצב בקונפליקט מול משפחתו המאיימת להתפרק, מול חברה מלוכדת ומסורה, שהופכת פניה אל מול פרט שמאיים לצאת מהקונצנזוס. אהרון עומד בפני סכנת נידוי, בעוד יחסיו עם עזרי הופכים להיות כוח פנימי שמחייב אותו להתעקש להמשיך בדרכו.
חיים-אהרון (אהרון טרייטל), בחור ישיבה ממאה שערים שבירושלים. הוא הבכור האהוב במשפחתו וחרדי חרוץ המעורר השראה בקהילתו. ערב אחד, חיים מתמוטט ומאבד את הכרתו. אנשי מד"א מגיעים ומנסים להחיותו אך ללא הצלחה, הם מכריזים על מותו. אביו לא מוותר ומחייה את גופת בנו. כעבור זמן מה ולהפתעת הנוכחים, חיים-אהרון חוזר לחיים. אבל הוא אינו כשהיה, פתאום תשוקתו לחיים חזקה ממנו. למרות ניסיונותיו לחזור לתלם הלימוד והדבקות, סקרנותו לחיים מפוגגת את ריכוזו. חיים מבין שהוא עומד בפני ניסיון שמעמיד אותו האל.
פרויקט מיוחד שיזם התסריטאי הנודע גיירמו אריאגה והוסדר על ידי מריו ורגס יוסה. הסרט מורכב מתשעה פרקים שעוסקים ברוחניות ומציגים את נקודות המבט השונות לקיום האנושי. הפרקים בוימו על ידי תשעה במאים ידועים מרחבי העולם, כולל עמוס גיתאי שביים את הפרק 'ספר עמוס'. "מילים עם אלים" עוסק בשבירות אנושית ובאמונה ובוחן את היחסים בין תרבויות ודתות דרך סרט עלילה. רוחניות אבוריגנית, קתוליות, איסלם, יהדות, שינטו, בודהיזם, נצרות אורתודוקסית, אומגנדה, הינדו ואתיאיזם מקבלים כולם קול וביטוי בסיפורים.

Everyday details of the parish community life help to feel Russian Orthodox customs that have been formed for centuries.
"The Moscow Pilgrims" is a film that takes you on a tour of Russia’s ancient capital. The film’s main characters – father and son – are doing the most intersting sights of old Moscow, including the Simonov Monastery, the New Spassky Cloister and the Krutitsky Church located on a picturesque bank of the Moskva River. The celibate priest Ilia, the dean of the church of the Holy Mother of God father Vladimir and other priests will help the pilgrims and visitors to see the world of Moscow’s ancient holy sites: the burial-vault of the noble Romanov family, the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of God recently cleared from security services, and the graves of the Kulikovo battle heroes, the monks Oslyabi and Peresvet.
