Cole Davidson, jeune étudiant avide de sport extrême, pensait passer un charmant petit week-end en compagnie de Kimberly, dans le chalet de son père au coeur des Montagnes Rocheuses. Gaspard, un jeune snowboarder talentueux mais peu ambitieux, vit et travaille à l'Alpe d'Huez, dans le magasin de surf de Beshop, un ancien entraîneur professionnel qui l'héberge et l'entraîne en échange de quelques travaux. Mais le rêve de Gaspard, c'est de devenir snowboarder professionnel, tout comme Josh Atterssen, champion charismatique mais imprévisible. Sa vie bascule lorsque ce dernier lui propose de l'entraîner lui-même à Gstaad, en Suisse, et de rejoindre son team. Naïf, n'ayant pas assez confiance en lui, Gaspard accepte l'offre et quitte Beshop sans état d'âme pour retrouver Josh. Une fois à Gstaad, la vie lui semble soudain plus belle et facile. Mais le peu recommandable Josh a un tout autre projet pour lui...

It'n to learn about nature. An expedition to ride some of the best backcountry on the planet. And, occasionally, an expedition to violently fall down a mountain to the peaceful hum of a violin. Mmm. Yeah. Depth Perception is somehow as earnest as it is tongue-in-cheek.

Last winter, Travis Rice and Chris Rasman went deep into Alaska’s Tordillo Mountains. Their trip coincided with about five feet of fresh snow — which was followed up by about 100 MPH winds. This lead to long days of searching and even longer nights in the lodge, sipping exotic wines and contemplating fate or at least thinking about where, oh where, those pockets of good snow might be hiding. By the end of it, Travis and Chris started to feel like truffle pigs — animals known for their acute ability to find rare objects or situations. You know, like geographical oddities and good snow. In other words, they nailed it.
