Nature photographer Michael Forsberg examines the remaining “wildness” in the Great Plains of North America. Featuring stunning imagery, the program is based on Forsberg’s book of the same name. Less than 200 years ago, the Great Plains was one of the greatest grassland ecosystems on Earth, stretching nearly a million square miles down the heart of the continent. The prairie was a place of constant motion, shaped by an unforgiving cycle of the seasons. Huge numbers of bison, elk, pronghorn, deer, prairie dogs, prairie wolves and even grizzlies were common. There were massive migrations of birds and fish. But as America grew, and the land was settled and tamed, the wildness began disappearing. Today the Great Plains is a fragile and threatened ecosystem, home to a variety of wildlife and habitats. In this documentary, Forsberg examines the wildlife and native landscapes that remain, exploring the current condition of the plains.

This 2-part series looks at the legends and lore surrounding sea monsters and the Bermuda Triangle, and reveals the truth through cutting edge science. Rare archive, eye-witness accounts, photo-real CGI, and dramatic reconstructions bring stories and legends to life. We set up scientific experiments to recreate key theories, ranging from the full force of a monster’s bite to how huge bubbles could sink ships in the Atlantic Ocean.
An insightful look at wildlife conservation. Although conservationists face difficulties and adversity every day, only the animals matter. That is why the human footprint in the documentary is almost zero.
For young Australian adventurer Tim Cope, this was the journey of a lifetime – travelling 10,000kms alone on horseback across the Eurasian steppe through Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and Hungary.
From the former Mongol capital Karakorum to the Danube, Tim retraced the path of the first nomads and followed the route taken by legendary Genghis Khan as he forged his great empire. Over three and a half gruelling years, and guided by an old Kazakh wisdom – “to understand the wolf, you must put on the skin of a wolf and look through its eyes” – Tim lived just as the ancient nomads did.
