Tallulah is een jonge, impulsieve en onvolwassen vrouw die samen met haar vriend Nico al enkele jaren door de Verenigde Staten toert met een camper. Ze hebben geen cent te makken en Nico wil wel graag weer naar huis en zich met Tallulah settelen en met haar trouwen. Wanneer zij hier echter niets voor voelt verlaat Nico haar plotsklaps. Tallulah vertrekt naar New York en zet haar impulsieve gedrag voort. Ze kidnapt een jonge peuter uit de handen van een onverantwoordelijke moeder. Tegenover Margo, de moeder van haar ex-vriend, doet ze alsof het haar eigen kind is. Tallulah weet echter totaal niet hoe ze een kind moeten verzorgen en de stugge Margo wordt overvallen door haar impulsieve gedrag, maar toch ontstaat er langzaamaan een hechte band tussen de twee vrouwen.
De levens van vier jonge mannen komen volledig op zijn kop te staan nadat hun geliefde vrouwen het boek hebben gekocht van Harvey, een relatie expert, wiens advies zij maar al te graag opvolgen. Probleem is alleen dat Harvey zelf moeite heeft om zijn relatie op orde te krijgen. Als de mannen gezamenlijk lucht van het zaakje krijgen besluiten ze de rollen om te draaien en de vrouwen flink terug te pakken.
