Seither lebt seine Nichte Bailey bei ihm. Wenn er sich nicht um ihre Erziehung kümmert, errichtet er im Arbeitsalltag noch immer Starkstrommasten und repariert die Leitungen. So hilft er dabei, das Stromnetz für das ganze Land am Laufen zu halten. Als Jahre später Baileys Freund Duncan auch in den Dienst als „Linemen“ treten will, ist Beau alles andere als erfreut über das Vorhaben. Doch er muss seine Skepisis gegenüber den Burschen – und auch seiner Mutter – erst einmal beiseitelegen, als sich ein Jahrhundertsturm ankündigt. Beau und Duncan müssen zusammenarbeiten, um die Stromversorgung aufrecht zu erhalten, denn ohne die Elektrizität stehen viele Menschenleben auf dem Spiel.

Michael Rymer directs his screen adaptation of 'Face to Face' (written by Australian playwright David Williamson), as an ensemble piece about 10 very dissimilar Australians bound together by a complex pattern of relationships and shared histories. Hysterically funny and deeply moving, each character's role in the drama peels back another layer as the story digs down to the roots of who these people really are.
