Filmen 'Witch Hunters’ må siges at være en fri fortolkning af Brødrene Grimms klassiske eventyr om Hans og Grete. Filmen foregår i en eventyrverden, 15 år efter Hansel og Gretel dræbte heksen, som kidnappede dem i pandekagehuset. Barndommens traume satte så dybe spor hos søskendeparret, at de som voksne er blevet dusørjægere med speciale i at jage og dræbe hekse. Der er ikke den heks, Hansel og Gretel ikke kan finde, og deres metoder er skånselsløse.
