《法蘭西諸事週報》故事以權威雜誌《紐約客》作藍本，講述上個世紀於一個虛構的法國小鎮，標梅利飾演的美國傳媒人，創立的〈法蘭西諸事週刊〉將推出停刊前的最後一期，並選擇刊印三位撰稿人的文章，當中包括由蒂達史雲頓（Tilda Swinton）飾演的貝蕾森（J.K.L. Berensen）撰寫關於藝術家和其畫作引發的利益與紛爭文章《堅系傑作The Concrete Masterpiece》；法蘭絲麥杜文（Frances McDormand）飾演的記者桂文詩（Lucinda Krementz），則把添麥菲查洛美（Timothee Chalamet）這些學生與擁護革命的社運份子故事，寫成《重新發聲Revisions To A Manifesto》；而由謝菲韋特（Jeffrey Wright）所飾演食評家魯巴維則以亞洲廚師解構料理為主線，寫成《警察局長私房菜The Private Dining Room ── of the Police Commissioner》——三篇故事，交織成一封寫給文字工作者的華麗情書。
