Hooker og Luther ernærer sig ved småsvindel, indtil de en dag kommer til at svindle sig til mafiapenge, og Luther bliver myrdet af mafiabossen Lonnegan. Hooker opsøger Luthers gamle svindlerven Henry Gondorff, og i 1930'ernes Chicago sætter de to sig for at hævne drabet på Luther ved at gøre Lonnegan til ofret i et gigantisk bondefangernummer.

A young man has recently become homeless on the streets of Glasgow, Scotland. He meets and befriends an older homeless man who takes him under his wing. A conversation begins between the two that leads to dark revelations.

Returning from an errand to buy bread, a boy finds a menacing dog blocking his way through the alley he must go down to get home. Frightened by the dog's barking, he asks various passers-by for help but no-one pays him any attention, and he must find a solution all by himself: he throws the dog a piece of bread and, while the animal is devouring it, he continues on his way home.

A distressed woman, a femme fatale, and a villainous bastard become entangled in a seedy world of lust, murder, and manipulation.

Clare has only her dog to keep her company. Her life isn't going so well. This morning, it's about to get much worse.
