I et forsøg på at samle alle New Yorks bander indkalder bandelederen Cyrus til et stormøde for alle byens hårde rødder. Ni medlemmer fra hver bande skal deltage, heriblandt banden The Warriors. Under mødet bliver Cyrus skudt, og den psykopatiske Luther, der stod bag mordet, får skudt skylden på lederen fra The Warriors. Snart er banden jaget vildt i en by, hvor gadens lov står over politiets.
