Tilbage i 1984 var Daniel-san hele symbolet på, at en ganske almindelig knægt sagtens kan sige fra, når bøllerne forsøger at tryne ham, og nu er han tilbage, for Cobra Kai er Karate Kid som TV-serie, og den første teaser er lovende. Han er faktisk helt bogstaveligt tilbage, for Ralph Macchio spiller igen Daniel LaRusso – selvfølgelig noget ældre – mens William Zabka er med som Johnny Lawrence. Og nej, der er ingen Mr. Miyaki, for skuespilleren Pat Morita døde i 2005 i en alder af 73 år. Selve handlingen i TV-serien cirkulerer om Cobra Kai dojoen, som Johnny Lawrence genåbner, mens Daniel-san åbenbart har problemer i livet efter at have mistet sin mentor. Johnny og Daniel ser stadig ikke ud til at være venner.
