Za války v Severním moři zajali Němci sovětský vlečný člun a za příslib života donutili jednoho z námořníků zastřelit svého kapitána. Člun pak vyhodili do vzduchu. Námořník se ocitl v ostrovním klášteře a jako mnich Anatolij zasvětil svůj život bohu a pokání, aby odčinil svůj hřích.
