Kolonel Nathaniel Serling is een gedesillusioneerde veteraan uit de Golfoorlog. Hij krijgt de opdracht om de staat van dienst van kapitein Karen Walden te onderzoeken, omdat zij kans maakt om de eerste vrouw te worden die de Medal of Honor ontvangt voor ongeëvenaarde moed in de strijd.
