Dopo tale "preludio" i due s'incamminano verso il convento della Visitazione, il convento del Magnificat appunto, che domina silenzioso e isolato una lontana vallata. Verso la stessa meta si dirigono per vie diverse e per diversi motivi altri pellegrini... Tutti approdano a quel Convento, i cui momenti vengono scanditi dalle celebrazioni che si susseguono durante i giorni della settimana santa. Alla fine un qualche segno di vita e di liberazione viene percepito unicamente dalla giovane Margherita, la novizia forzata che sogna la libertà.
