V roce 1907 Rasputinovy legendární léčivé schopnosti přinesly naději ruskému careviči Alexejovi trpícímu hemofilií, a tak se stal členem nejužšího okruhu blízkých cara Mikuláše II. a mocným zákulisním hráčem.
