There were times when the economy was thriving and all indicators were turned upwards. But then finances crashed and reality hit – the economy had been on steroids. While professionals argue whether the financial crisis runs in the form of V or in the form W or has become a line segment at the bottom of the graph, we are wondering: "How could this have happened?!" Some answers can be found in To The Top And Back. The beginning of the 21st century is marked by globalization and the uniformity of opinions, ideas, and visions. The village of Juršče, far removed from the broken and crazy world, yet so close, still preserves the memory of how their ancestors lived.

The valley of tears is a synonym for the prison in Dob, Slovenia. The film takes us to the event organised as part of the Engage and Activate project (ViA), with a performance by the band Autodafé, interweaving it with personal accounts of three inmates who are part of the project. The first one was convicted of murder, the second one of sexual assault and incest, and the third one of fraud/financial crime. In a symbolic way, songs of the sea complete the idea of the film which perceives the prison as an isolated island detached from everyday life and society.
