For mm 49 (in the 37th month of "mm"'s history) a marathon listening party celebrating the music of Vivian Fine was decided upon. Fine was a dedicated composer who produced a variety of work over a 70 year career. This movie, of course, is not an imitation of Ken Burns style documentary movie-making. Instead, I gleefully mix the casualness & lively uninhibited conversation of mms with the formal exactitude of Fine's music. I hope you enjoy it as an upstanding example of Punk Classical. On October 14th, 1941, in the rural West Coast town of Kowhitirangi, Stanley Graham is a financially struggling recluse. He is accused of poisoning his neighbour's cattle and threatening his neighbours with a rifle. Local Police Constable, Edward Best, arrives to resolve the situation. Graham soon threatens to shoot Best and so he retreats for backup. Best returns with three other Police officers from Hokitika to confront Stanley.

Mike and I spent 2 months in Tramore, County Waterford, Ireland in the fall/winter of '92. We had been on the road since the summer, and planned to be gone for another year or so. We made a video to send home to our friends and family in the States as a Christmas card. This is the part of the video where we took our friends on a tour of Tramore.
On November 4, 1979, the American embassy in Iran was captured by students. In an action, America blocks Iran's money in global banks and forms the first economic sanction against Iran. The students are trying to return the property of their country by taking the embassy ambassadors hostage. America is planning a military attack to free its people, but this operation will fail in the Tabas desert. In the end, America will return only some of the money to release its ambassadors by setting up a contract.
After the First World War, the German government faced economic problems due to the payment of reparations, but this crisis was resolved in Germany under the management of Professor Hjalmar Schacht. After a few years, the oil nationalization movement took place in Iran and Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh invited Schacht to Iran to use his help and advice, but the coup on August 19, 1953 prevented this from happening.
