Adding Images

Below is the general guidelines for contributing image assets to TMDb. These are meant to be a sane set of standards but that doesn't mean when no good image exists, that we don't bend the rules. It's important that we strive for consistency but we realize that not everything can meet this criteria (espeically for older films).

These guidelines have been updated to support future 4K resolutions.

General

  • Images should not be stretched to get to the needed resolution (rather cropped considering the aspect ratio)
  • There should be no watermarks or logos on the images
  • Images should take up the whole image space, bars on the sides or top are not allowed
  • Don't upload a smaller image (720p) if a higher resolution (1080p) version of that image already exists
  • If a smaller image (720p) exists and you upload a higher resolution (1080p) version of the same image, please use the “Report Button” to report it as a duplicate
  • Please make sure that your uploaded image belongs to the right movie, if you uploaded accidentally the wrong image or you find such kind of image please use the report button so it can get deleted
